As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be working on the Cozi team that is responsible for all the services and utilities that power Cozi.   • Someone to own production services, investigate and resolve issues, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies
  • Someone to participate in technical mentorship / leadership with engineers via code reviews, pairing, architectural reviews, and day to day discussions
  • Someone that understands and can write automated testing both at the unit testing and integration/acceptance test levels
  • A person to work with the team to write tickets, refine the backlog, and direct the course for our products and at times suggest alternatives we may not have thought to consider or know about
  • A person that understands why it’s helpful to provide thorough and readable documentation and can clearly explain how something works.

Successful applicants will have:

  • BS in Computer Science or relevant industry experience. (MS in Computer Science a plus)
  • Several years of professional software development experience in both creating and supporting client services
  • Experience building applications deployed on AWS or another Cloud Service Provider
  • Experience developing complex and highly available services running in a production environment with large data sets
  • Demonstrated deep understanding of REST, service architecture, monitoring, and the tenants of horizontal scalability
  • Extensive knowledge of functional and architectural design patterns.
  • Experience leveraging continuous integration and codified infrastructure
  • Ability to inherit legacy production services and maintain them
  • Ability to translate tickets into technical tasks
  • Ability to estimate effort effectively
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills

Our stack:

We use Python as our primary language. We have MySQL, ElasticSearch, and Redis datastores. Our services are hosted on AWS and use AWS services and utilities. We also use React Native, iOS, and Android native development in our clients. We use Docker containers, GitHub, Confluence, and Jira. If you have experience with these or with similar toolsets, it’s a huge plus.
